If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to be an extra in a Bollywood movie – here’s your chance! Choreographer Gilles Chuyen will lead a Bollywood Dance workshop in the courtyard of the Suzanne Dellal Centre on Friday, April 29, 2011 at noon. The workshop is free and open to the public.
Chuyen initially studied dance in France, where he trained in Ballet, Modern Jazz, folk and contemporary dance. Since 1994 Chuyen has worked in India with dance forms such as Chhau Mayurbhanj, Kathak and Bharata Natyam, creating choreography for theatre and film. He is the choreographer and artistic director of “Bollywood Love Story” directed by Sanjoy Toy, which has been touring Europe, and has also participated in several Bollywood films as both choreographer and actor/dancer. Chuyen’s film credits include “Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi” directed by Sudhir Mishra, and “Chintuji” directed by Ranjit Kapoor with Rishi Kapoor. He teaches Bollywood dance in India, the UK, and South Africa.
