The Tel Aviv Blues Festival at Levontin 7, January 23 & 24, 2011 brings together amazing bands and musicians, some in one-time festival-only projects. Two nights of music you just don’t want to miss. Sunday, January 23, 2011

First set at 20:00

Lazer Lloyd Blues Band – Moshe Yankovsky on drums and vocals, Ilan Hillel on bass and vocals, with a set of originals – blues and blues influenced rock. Links: site, YouTube. Read more about Lazer Lloyd here.

Acollective – Idan Rabinovici, Roy Rieck, Daniel Shoham, Joseph E-Shine, Roy Rabinovici, Emanuel Slonim & Nadav Luzia. Blues jam with tributes to the greats, and originals. Links: site, Myspace.

Second Set: 22:00

Uzi Ramirez, guitarist and former member of Boom-Pam and 1/3 of the Ramirez Brothers, playing funkabilly, country, blues, & Rock’n’roll, with songs from the Ramirez Brothers’ album. Links: Myspace

Israelis/Action/Sex – a blues rock band from the Middle East. Yuval Kainer and Tom Mochiach (former members of Zikney Tzfat – Elders of Safed) and Tamir Shkolnik, with special guests Hemi Rudner and Yehuda Eder for an Israeli blues set. Links: site

First set – 20:00

Delta 5 Blues Band – Dor Nagar on vocals, harmonica; Lital David – voice; Yossi Tanuri – electric and acoustic guitar, ; Dudi Danieli – bass guitar; Shlomo Ariel – harmonica, vocals; Gilad Ariel – drums, vocals – will host singer Roy Young. Moran Magal will join for the evening on keyboards. Playing Blues, R & B, & Rock. Links: site, Myspace

Abate Blues – saxophone player and singer Abate Berihun brings Ethiopian and Middle Eastern music traditions with jazz influences with Amos Hoffman on oud and guitar, Alon Yafe on percussion, Omri Mor on piano and Avri Borochov on contrabass. Links: Amos Hoffman site

Second set – 22:00

Chicken Fish – a project unique to the festival. Uri Kinrot (Boom Pam and Balkan Beat Box) on guitar, Adam Scheflan on bass and Ram Gabay on drums.

Black Seeds – Ravid Kahalani, who performed with Idan Raichel and is currently touring “Yemen Blues,” teams up with Alon Olearchik and Efraim Shamir, pianist and vocalist Maya Dunitz, guitarist Uzi Ramirez, oudist Amano Campino, percussionist Roni Ivrin and drummer Amir Bresler for an eclectic set of blues, soul, jazz and North African music.   1. Some of the Best names in IL Blues indeed. I totally recommend Acollective who will knock your socks off 🙂 They are original alright, and their joy of playing music together is hazardously contagious!
