Yoram Karmi and the Fresco Dance Company present Dancers Create: two nights of dance premieres  choreographed by dancers from leading Israeli companies,  on February 20 & 21, 2011.

Reflecting the diverse styles, imaginations and approaches of the individual dancers, these evenings are not only fun for the audience, but allow the dancers to explore creating choreography in a supportive environment, with artistic guidance relieved of the logistic and pressures involved in producing a performance. Several dances premiering in past years have continued to be performed in Israel and abroad.

Karmi, artistic director and choregrapher of the Fresco Dance Company, initiated this project in 2007 to support the creative endeavors of the dancers in the company. Over the years, the annual event has expanded to include dancers from other companies and this year will present 10 new works in two programs of dance. The works were selected from among 30 applicants.

Among the dancers whose works will premiere are: Einav Eshel, Alon Shtoyer, Sharon Weisswasser, Mira Rubinstein, Gil Harush, Meirav Dagan, Oded Ronen, Iris Nice, Ilai Alfrovitch and Liron Ozeri.

The Fresco Dance Company was founded in 2002 and is supported by the Israeli Ministry of Culture Department of Dance,  Holon Meditech and Mifal HaPayis. The company repertoire includes performances for children as well as general audiences, and performs locally and internationally. Yoram Karmi choreographed new works which the Fresco Dance Company performed in the Israel Festival in 2007 and 2009. In addition to other community projects with youth and in the peripheries, the Fresco Dance Company has focused their attention, along with a portion of their budget on supporting young choreographers.

Tickets are 60 NIS per program, with all profits from the evening dedicated to the Dancers Create Project. Performances will take place at the Suzanne Dellal Centre, Tel Aviv, 8 Yehieli Street, Neve Tzedek, Tel Aviv
