Many people fantasize about being rock stars – onstage under the lights surrounded by electric guitars, drums and amplifiers, but what do rock star fantasies look like? I suspect that many rock and pop singers secretly dream of performing with a full orchestra, reveling in the magnitude of such an array of instruments, the thrill of possibilities inherent in multilayered arrangements performed live rather than synthetically manipulated.
Ninet Tayeb, first and most famous winner of Kokhav Nolad (the Israeli version of Pop Idol), singer, songwriter and actress, will perform in the Classic Rock Concert Series at the Israeli Opera on March 14, 2011 with the Raanana Symphonette Orchestra, conducted by Roi Oppenheim, musical director of the evening. Ninet will sing songs from her two albums, Barefoot and the more recent Communicative (Ninet wrote all the lyrics, and composed most of the album, collaborating on the arrangements and production with Rockfour) in special symphonic arrangements created for this evening by Zohar Sharon, Chai Meirzada, Orit Gurel, Amir Lakner and Asher Goldschmidt.
Her dazzling beauty, powerful voice and stage presence, combined with a meteoric rise from obscurity to fame, has led Ninet to be at once over-exposed and underestimated by the media. One measure of Ninet’s potential as an artist is that despite the critics and papparazi, she remains undeterred in exploring and seeking out her artistic path, taking risks and putting her soul into every undertaking.
