A celebration of “Art & Pasta” will take place tonight (August 12) and tomorrow between 18:00 and 23:00 in the piazza of the U. Nahon Museum of Italian Jewish Art. Free and open to the public with music, theatre, workshops and a bounty of Italian cuisine!
Stands with pasta, ice cream, wine and coffee will tempt the gourmets in the crowd, while a pasta eating contest will take place for the ambitious gourmands. Mystrorin Theatre will perform Commedia dell Arte, the Arcadia Ensemble will play Italian folk music and opera singers will enchant the ear with Italian arias. Workshops will instruct in the making of jewelry, picture frames and a variety of other objects using – what else? Pasta!
The festival was initated 8 years ago by Itamar Gourevitch, who produces the event. He reports that over the course of three days visitors to the festival consume 750 kilos of pasta.
The Museum will be open during festival hours with a new exhibit devoted to “The Power of Woman.” There is a charge for museum entrance.
