Reality Trauma, an exhibit of photographs by Avi Ganor, will open at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art on Saturday, March 19, 2011.
Curated by Nili Goren, the exhibit will present 30 works from Ganor’s series “Reality Trauma” created during the years 2003 – 2010. The museum describes the photographs as “in direct “close to home” documentary diary style, through an allegorical poetic observation of both concepts and their conversion into a third, unified concept into which they collapse. In their reductive manner, the works offer a way to deal with horror as the concept of trauma escapes an appropriate interpretation, whether literal or visual. Beyond description, they seek to represent the indefinable, conducting a complex, tortuous discourse with the medium and with the way various genres deal with representation.”
There will be a meeting with the artist and curator on March 24, 2011 at 20:00 in the gallery, and a gallery talk with Iris Batsry on April 12, 2011 at 20:00. Tel Aviv Museum of Art, 27 Shaul Hamelech Boulevard, 03-6077020.
