If you didn’t make it to Black Rock City this fall for Burning Man, you can still enjoy the experience with Burning Man: Voyage in Utopia (France, USA, 2010, 83 mins), the opening film of the SPIRIT Film Festival. The 5th International SPIRIT Film Festival will take place at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque from November 2 – 5, 2011. Compassion, women’s empowerment, yoga and an awareness of the environment are the central themes of this year’s festival.
Intenational guests at the festival include: Buddhist nun Rita; sex therapist Baba Dez, the star of the film Sex Magic, who will give a talk (in English) at a special screening of the film on November 3, 2011 at 18:45; and Dr. Gabriel Cousens.
18 documentary films will be screened at the festival. A complete list is available in English (hurray!) with times and dates on the SPIRIT Film Festival website. The festival is also a community event, a spiritual happening gathering together diverse groups of people with a common interest in spiritual awareness and growth. The festival will be accompanied by an exhibit, a New Age Fair, lectures and seminars.
Some festival highlights:
