Lone Samaritan by Barak Heymann – focuses on Israeli actress Sophie Tzedaka, the choices she and her sisters have made and the impact of these choices on her family. A member of the Samaritans, a small and very strict religious sect, Sophie and her sisters have left the sect to pursue individual lives and careers in the wider, open Israeli society. Yet for her parents and brother, who have remained in the Samaritan community, suffer the consequences. An illuminating and moving look at family relationships, the conflict between the desire for freedom and the desire for community, and the role of women in religion.
It Kinda Scares Me, by Tomer Heymann – follows Heymann’s work with a group of delinquent youth in a rough neighborhood. As he develops a mentoring relationship with the boys, working together on a play created from their life experiences, Tomer reveals that he is gay. How will they react to this shocking news? Will the show go on? Watch and find out.
