Stage-Center Theatre Workshop will open this season with several new projects, including: Dancers Studio, the Pre-Premiere Club, and Play By the Book . Known for their workshops for professionals, this year the studio will feature performances open to the general public.
The Center was founded in 2002 by Rivi Feldmesser-Yaron as a place where professionals – actors, directors, playwrights, dancers, choreographers, musicians and others – can hone their craft and develop their skills. Master classes and workshops are led by leading Israeli professionals such as Rani Blair, Avner Bernheimer, Moshe Kepten, Maor Zagori, Zipi Pines, Oded Kotler, Eran Kolirin, Dover Kosashvili, Assaf Zippor, Eitan Aner, and Udi Ben Moshe.
Dancers Studio, a series of intimate, one-on-one conversations with leading figures in the Israeli dance world, will open this January. Modeled after the American television program Actors Studio, choreographers will discuss their work process and artistic perspective. The interviews take place before an audience, and the audience is invited to participate in the conversation.
The Pre-Premiere Club, under the artistic direction of Yehezkel Lazarov, will be a lab for creators, guided by the Center’s teachers. On March 5, 2012 at 20:00 there will be a presentation for theatre managers, directors and other professionals, where select artists will present scenes (up to 20 minutes in length) from their work in progress. The public is invited to attend.
Play By the Book, directed by Yarden Bar Kochva, will be a program adapting Israeli literary works to the stage. The focus will be on new books published in Israel this year to create a theatre experience with the audience. The presentation will take place on March 10, 2012 at 20:00. The public is invited to attend.
The Center will also collaborate on projects with other artistic organizations:
A school for playwrights in collaboration with Beit Lessin Theatre. This will be a four track program, with selected plays receiving preference in the Beit Lessin Open Stage Festival 2012. In collaboration with the Future of the Theatre Festival at Tzavta, there will be a day devoted to acting students, with five different workshops. Other programs this year at the Center include: Actors Studio with Oded Kotler and Amnon Meskin; Screen Acting taught by Rani Blair, Nir Bergman, Oded Davidof, Shemi Zarhin, Ram Nahari, Rani Saar, Dover Kosashvili, and Eran Kolirin; Writer’s Room – a new project led by Avner Bernheimer on developing a television series from idea to script; and a course in New Media for Creators taught by Daniel Ravner.
