Independent animation in Israel – Yes! A symposium on producing independent Israeli animation films will take place on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 16:15 at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque. Three animation films and one SCI-FI film will be screened, followed by a discussion with the film’s creators on the production process, its trials and tribulations and the circumstances that enabled them to produce their films.
Films to be shown:
David Gidali’s Europa (Israel 2011, 20 min) – a daring mission to Jupiter’s frozen moon Europa, in search of a new supply of water to save Earth from drought and destruction. A live-action film with 90 computerized effects, created through the volunteer efforts of leading Israeli animators. Gidali’s previous short, “Secular Quarter #3” won the Jerusalem 2111 competition.
Dave Levy’s Round 6 (Israel 2011, 3 min) – Round 6 is a 3D animated promotional film for a fictive video game, invented and directed by Dave over the course of a year and a half, with the help of his friends after work.
