Copro 14, the Israel Documentary Screen Market, will take place from May 29 – June 3, 2012, this year with a special tribute to French Public Television. Founded in 1999 at the initiative of founder and director Orna Yarmut, in this encounter at the annual CoPro Screen Market, through panel discussions, workshops and pitching sessions, Israeli filmmakers and international producers and television executives engage in vital dialogue, reflecting the different cultural and professional perspectives.

In collaboration with the Embassy of France in Israel and the French Institute, CoPro will host a delegation of French industry professionals and present two special programs. The first will take place on Tuesday, May 29th at Beit Mania in Bialik Square (27 Bialik St) from 10:10 and will include a special pitching session for potential co-productions with France. The event is open to the public and will take place in English, complete program details are available on the CoPro site in English.

CoPro will dedicate its annual tribute to French Public Television – Arte France and France Télévisions for their contribution to documentary filmmaking, in France and internationally. A program of films curated by Rachel Leah Jones will be screened at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque, opening on Wednesday, May 30th with Letters From Iran, directed by Manon Loizeau, in the presence of French Ambassador to Israel, Mr. Christophe Bigot and French Attaché Audiovisuel, Mr. Olivier Tournaud. The film will be followed by a discussion with Alex Szalat, Deputy Head of the Society and Culture Department at Arte France and Anne Julienne, Head of International Development at France Télévisions, and moderated by Pat Ferns.

Films to be screened include: Petition, directed by Zhar Llang; Black in France, directed by Juan Gelas; Far From Heaven, directed by Stephanie Lamorre; August: A Moment Before the Eruption, directed by Avi Mograbi; and 1946, German Autumn, directed by Michael Gaumnitz. CoPro pitching sessions will take place on May 30 & 31, from 10:00 – 16:15 at the Eshkol Payis Hall near the Tel Aviv Cinematheque. Moderated by Pat Ferns, the sessions will be held in English and are open to the public.
