The Orto-Da Theatre Group will perform a special version of “Stones” at the launching of a new festival in Guimarães, Portugal on June 1 & 2, 2012. Guimarães, European Capitol of Culture 2012, will host international artists and performers from all disciplines: music, film, photography, art, architecture, literature, theatre, dance and street art.
Spain, China, Germany, France, England, Japan and Mexico will be among the participating countries. “Stones” by Yinon Tsafrir has been selected to represent Israel at the festival. Tsafrir is the artistic director of the Orto-Da Theatre, and co-director of “Stones” along with Daniel Zaafrani. “Stones” will be performed by: Avi Gibson Bar-El, Motti Sabag, Michael Marks, Noga Dangley and Elad Atias.
“Stones” is inspired by the sculpture “Rebel of the Ghettos” created by Natan Rappaport in memory of the Warsaw Ghetto. In this play without words, six actors bring the sculpture to life through movement, original imagery and a unique soundtrack.
