The Acco Festival of Alternative Israeli Theatre will take place from October 1 – 4, 2012, throughout the Old City of Acco. Now in its 33rd edition, the festival will feature premieres of 11 original plays in competition, as well as guest performances from Israel and abroad, music, dance, street theatre and exhibitions.

In the unique setting of the city of Acco, looking out on the sea, among the ancient buildings, visitors can enjoy a widely diverse array of performances in a carnival atmosphere. The festival is a meeting place of experimental theatre and social critique, with works often reflecting on the contemporary Israeli social and political scene. Festival curators Smadar Yaaron and Moni Yosef are currently completing their 4 year sojourn at the festival.  The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Acre Municipality, the Ministry of Tourism and the National Lottery.

Complete information on the festival, including detailed listings of plays, exhibitions, special events, street theatre and maps, is available in English on the festival website: http://www.accofestival.co.il/index.php
