Calling all Miyazaki fans – Raz Greenberg will give a talk on “The Beginning of Childhood’s End – Miyazaki and the World of Animation” Friday, November 27 at 11:00am at the library of the Embassy of Japan in Tel Aviv. The lecture is part of the Embassy’s “Shishagrirut” series of Friday talks.
Raz Greenberg is a PhD student at the Communication and Journalism Department of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, studying animation as a text. Greenberg focuses on early Japanese animation, winning an award for his MA thesis “Images of Childhood in the Films of Hayao Miyazaki.” Greenberg served as a curator for the exhibit “Manga: Introduction to Japanese Comics” at the Yehiel Nahari Museum in Ramat Gan, and has published several essays on animation in periodicals, including “Hayao Miyazaki and Europe” in the Bezalel Art School’s online periodical.
