***IMPORTANT UPDATE*** Shantel’s performance at the Barby has been postponed to Wednesday, November 28th. All tickets purchased for the November 10th performance will be valid for the 28th.

This Saturday night, the 10th of November, Afikoman and Zappa Group are presenting the vibrant gypsy brass DJ Shantel for a night of Balkan, electronic and Bucovina beats that, if last year is any indication, will quite certainly knock your socks off (and leave you rubbing your poor feet in pain after dancing like you’ve never done before). Shantel, a German DJ and producer with a knack for eclectically tweaked Balkan gypsy music, is renowned worldwide for his vivacious shows and experimental musical combinations. His appearance this year the Barby comes a year and a half after his last performance in Israel, a sold-out show venerated as one of the city’s wildest performances.

Shantel’s return to Israel also follows the viral popularity of his YouTube hit single, Disco Partizani, which has amassed over 10 million hits on the site.

The DJ, of Bukovina German Romanian decent, is attributed as one of the founding fathers of Balkan, a genre characterized by complex rhythm, various wind and string instruments and an irresistible desire to dance like mad.

Shantel’s performance will also coincide with the release of the movie Kusturica Dream, directed by Eyal Sibi, which will premier at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque this Wednesday, November 7th at 21:30. The movie documents a surreal journey through the history of Balkan music and will present Shantel’s music in the score.

For anyone who likes dancing, fun, and good times in general (yes, that is all of you), get in touch quickly with one of the following addresses for a chance to grab a couple rapidly dwindling tickets. See you there!
