***IMPORTANT UPDATE*** Philipp Gehmacher and Eszter Salamon have cancelled their visit to Tel Aviv.
Moves Without Borders is a series of encounters with avant-garde European choreographers initiated and curated by choreographer Arkadi Zaides in collaboration with the Goethe-Institute in Tel Aviv. Moving across physical and political borders to encourage dialogue, showing different perspectives on the choreographic process and generating new possibilities.
The launch event will take place at Tmuna Theatre (8 Soninco Street, Tel Aviv) on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at 22:00 with a discussion exploring the question: How is artistic and kinetic knowledge transmitted across borders? Participants include Arkadi Zaides, Muhammed Jabli, Gary Feingold (Holland), as well as other guests. The event will be moderated by Yair Vardi. Tickets are 20 NIS, to purchase call 03-5611211.
The series will be inaugurated with the arrival of two guests: Philipp Gehmacher and Eszter Salamon.
Choreographer Gehmacher lives in Vienna and has studied at London Contemporary Dance School and the Laban Centre London. He will be conducting workshops, lectures and demonstrations in Tel Aviv from November 24 – 30, 2012, including Walk & Talk, a form of lecture performance he developed in 2008.
Hungarian dancer, choreographer and performer Eszter Salamon will be in Israel from December 3 – 16, 2012. She will be presenting “The Living Monument” a group choreography project she developed in 2009.
