Ready, set, animate! Maratoon, a competition for creating animated films at the Holon Cinematheque, will take place from December 5 – 15, 2012.
Now in its fourth year, the Maratoon competition is open to all animators – students, young animators, professionals and amateurs alike (age 16 and up). Participants create animated films from 30 to 60 seconds in length over a period of 5 days, starting December 5th, when they will receive the guidelines for this year’s competition.
A panel of five judges will select the winning film, and the prize includes a Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, and Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web. FLIX surfers will have a chance to vote for their favorite film, with FLIX sponsoring an “Audience Favorite” award of 2,500 NIS. The Gross Family is sponsoring a prize of 2,000 NIS for the best screenplay, and the Holon Cinematheque is sponsoring prizes for Honorable Mention.
A screening of the finalists will take place on December 15th at the Holon Cinematheque, along with a screening of Anca Damian’s animated documentary Crulic – The Path to Beyond.
Further details may be found on the Holon Cinematheque site.
