The Nissan Nativ Acting Studio will present Blue Remembered Hills, by Dennis Potter, directed by Amir Kliger. Originally written as a television play, (shown on the BBC in 1978 with a cast that included Helen Mirren and Robin Ellis) and adapted for the theatre, the play focuses on a group of young children playing in the Forest of Dean on a summer afternoon in 1943.

Drawing upon his own childhood experiences and memories of the Forest of Dean, Potter takes a very clear look at childhood, piercing through the veil of nostalgia to reveal the strong emotions and unthinking cruelty of that distant land. Reminiscent of William Golding’s Lord of the Flies,  Blue Remembered Hills is all the more jarring in its portrayal of childhood, as it does not take place in an exotic location under unusual circumstances, but rather depicts the events of an ordinary afternoon, that might take place anywhere.

Blue Remembered Hills will be performed at the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio (158 Herzl Street, Tel Aviv) from January 25 – 31, 2013 at 20:30. Tickets are 50 NIS, call: 03-5182410. For additional information, write to: actingst@nissan-nativ.org.il
