Sasha Argov is one of the most beloved composers of Hebrew song, transforming the words of Alexander Penn (Vidui – Confession), Yaakov Shabtai (Ahuvati Sheli Livnat Hatzavar – My love with the white neck), Haim Guri (HaReut – Friendship),  A. Hillel (Yossi Yeled Sheli Mutzlah – Yossi my successful boy), Haim Hefer (Hu Lo Yada Et Shma – He did not know her name), and other poets and lyricists into music. His songs are such an integral part of the cultural fabric that many people know them in the same way that one knows folk songs, as if one was born knowing and singing them.
