Director Noam Peleg and actor Dori Engel are collaborating on Shakespeare’s Hamlet, featuring seven actors playing 21 roles, in an intimate and intense independent production. This interpretation of the play focuses on the question of life after death – not the afterlife, but the question of how the living cope in the absence of the departed, how does one live under the shadow of death?
The King of Denmark dies suddenly, and his widow Gertrude marries his brother Claudius. The kingdom is in order, there is a return to routine, yet Hamlet cannot find closure or consolation. The result is tragic.
