You’re invited to a unique get-together of one of the most important families in history – the Bachs. The last “Tzlilim” concert of the season, titled “Bach Between the Baroque and the Rococo”, will take place this Thursday, June 27th at the Open University campus in Ra’anana. The concert will focus on Johann Sebastian Bach and three of his sons: Johann Christian, Johann Christoph Friedrich and Carl Philipp Emanuel.

The works you’ll hear will be Johann Sebastian’s Suite for violoncello solo (BWV 1008), Johann Christian Bach’s Concerto in F minor (W.C69), Carl Philipp Emanuel’s Concerto in c minor (Wq 31), and Johann Christoph Friedrich’s Sonata for violoncello and obbligato harpsichord in A major. To maintain authenticity, these works will be played on historical instruments.

Who will be bringing the Bachs to life? Harpsichordist Jochewed Schwartz is one of the most renowned keyboard players in Israel, performing with the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Israel Kibbutz Orchestra, and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. She also leads the Early Music chamber concerts series “Sounds and Words” and the Felicja Blumenthal Music Center. She blogs here: http://www.jochewed.blogspot.co.il/.

Daniel Tanchelson (baroque violin) is a member of the Israel Haydn Quartet and has performed with the Barrocade and the Israel Bach Soloists. Also playing the baroque violin is Moshe Aharonov, a member of the Meitar Ensemble who has performed with the Israeli Camerata Orchestra and Ensemble Kaprizma. Yael Patish-Comforty, who plays the baroque viola, is a co-founder of the Erato String Trio and a member of the Tel Aviv Soloists Ensemble. Ira Givol, baroque cello, is the principal cellist of the Tel Aviv Soloists Ensemble and the Israeli Bach Soloists, and a two-time winner of the Ben-Haim Competition.
