“Mekomi” (Local) is a weekend of interdisciplinary events including dance, film, and music, presented by dancer/choreographer Maya Brinner on August 14 – 16, 2014 at Warehouse 2 in Jaffa. Mekomi is part of the Choreographers Association series Creator/Curator.
In this selection of works, Brinner explores they different ways in which we each relate to what is “local”, pluralism, the way we view “the other,” and more. Tickets are 60 NIS for one performance, 100 NIS for two, and 140 NIS for all three evenings. To order, call: 03-9021563.
Opening each evening will be HaDegel/The Flag by Maya Brinner, and Home – video art by the actor/artist Raida Adon. Brinner, whose work often relates to ritual and repetition. HaDegel explores the significance of the flag and it’s assocations – control, occupation of territory – in a solo piece created during an arts residency in Nottingham, England, making its Israeli premiere this weekend.

Woods by Maya Brinner
I Can See Them Coming by Merav Dagan
