Israeli theatre directors Yehezkel Lazarov, Hana Vazana Grunwald, Shlomo Plessner, and Avital Dvori will participate in a panel discussion “Body of Work,” moderated by Natalie Fainstein. The discussion will take place in English, and admission is free! Mark your calendars: October 28, 2014 from 17:00 – 19:00 at the Cameri Theatre Cafe. The event is presented by the Cameri Theatre and the Insted Israel International Theatre Lab.
About the participants:
Natalie Fainstein – actor, dramaturg, translator and voice artist, living and working in Tel Aviv. A graduate of the MFA program at Tel Aviv University, among her performances are: Shufra, Be Beautiful, My Father is Not a Bird (read more here), and Zu Hi HaAretz.
Yehezkel Lazarov – actor, director, choreographer. A member of Gesher Theatre since 2001, and the Cameri Theatre since 2006. The prolific Lazarov has many starring roles to his credit on stage and screen, often in tandem with creating the choreography, such as in the Cameri Theatre production of Stempenyu, which he also co-directed with Edna Mazya (read more here). His most recent venture in directing is the moving Falling Out of Time at Gesher Theatre (read more here) and he has been nominated for the upcoming Kipod Zahav Fringe Theatre Prize 2014 for his direction of Igloo.
Hana Vazana Grunwald – a graduate of the Performing Arts Faculty majoring in Community Theatre, she holds a degree in Social Work from Bar Ilan University, and an MFA from Tel Aviv University. Among the plays she has directed, Papagina was nominated for Best Play at the Kipod Zahav Fringe Theatre Prize 2013. Her most recent play, VaTehar VaTeled is currently participating in the Tmuna Theatre October Festival.
Shlomo Plessner – actor, dancer, director and artistic director and co-founder with Ido Bornstein of the Kan Theatre. A graduate of the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio. Among the plays he has directed are: Yerma, The Trojan Women, The House of Bernarda Alba, When You Come to Sleep with Me (inspired by the poetry of Yona Wallach, read more here) and Gan Riki (read more here). His most recent work, Project S2, is currently participating in the Tmuna Theatre October Festival.
Avital Dvori – performer, puppeteer and storyteller. A graduate of the Central School for Speech and Drama. She has an M.A. in Performing Arts, specializing in physical theatre, puppet and object theatre. She has worked with Theatre-Rites and Theatre Centre in London, and with the Binyamina Circus in Israel. Among the shows she has directed are: Tranquila and Flora’s Dance.
Insted Israel brings together theatre directors from around the world for a week-long lab of workshops, panel discussions, theatre performances, and travel in Israel to encourage creative dialogue and future collaborations. The program is managed by Avivit Shaked and Sharon Gombosh.
