Frontier Danceland, a contemporary dance company based in Singapore, will come to Israel for the first time to perform works by Shahar Biniamini, Noa Zuk and Ohad Fishof, hosted by the Batsheva Dance Company, from May 22 – 23, 2016.

Frontier Danceland was founded 1991 by artistic director Low Mei Yoke and Tan Chong Poh, with the artistic aim of creating and performing innovative, contemporary dance that seeks to explore and extend boundaries. Current artistic director Low Mei Yoke achieved professional status for the company in 2011, and the company has collaborated with many local and international choreographers to create and perform new works.

The connection between Frontier Danceland and these Israeli choreographers began in 2014, when the company invited Noa Zuk to set her work After Chorus on the company. Following this collaboration, the company commissioned Noa Zuk and Ohad Fishof to create a work for the company. The result was a piece for six dancers with a very long name: An Old Woman Picking Up A Stone From The Ground And Carrying It Back To Her House. The following year, the company invited Shahar Biniamini to create a work for the company, and it is titled Flat. Frontier Danceland will perform both these works on May 22 and 23, with an additional piece performed on May 23 – a short work choreographed by Christina Chan, a dancer and the rehearsal manager of the company.

Performances: Sunday, May 22nd at 20:00; Monday, May 23rd at 19:00 and 21:00. Suzanne Dellal Centre, 8 Yehieli St. Tel Aviv. Duration: approx. 75 min. Tickets are 90 NIS/70 NIS for Batsheva club members, and may be purchased online via the Batsheva website or call: 03-5171471, ext. 115.
