The Spoken Word peak event of the year will take place this month – Slamstival #2, presented by the Incubator Theater and Poetry Slam Israel. Now in its 2nd edition, the annual Spoken Word festival of Poetry Slam Israel is going international, with performers from Japan, Russia, Canada, Italy, Denmark and Belgium. Events will take place in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem on December 25 – 27, 2016, with the Grand Slam taking place on December 29th at Hangar 11, Port of Tel Aviv.

The festival program:

Sunday, December 25th

International Poetry Slam with champions from Japan, Russia, Canada, Italy, Denmark and Belgium. Each will perform in her/his own language, with Hebrew and English surtitles. Bascula (42 HaRakevet), Tel Aviv at 20:30. Tickets are 40 NIS.

Monday, December 26th

Youth Poetry Slam – Israeli youth competition. Levontin 7 at 17:00 – admission free.

Slamspot – a marathon of musical Spoken Word performances starting at 20:00 and going on into the night… with Anat Elinav, Gilad Blum, Yoav Talmor & Meholelei HaBardak, Zvia Margalit, Maya Zaks & the Russians, Yehu Yaron, Pedro Gras, Arik Ever. Tickets are 40 NIS.

International Poetry Slam with champions from Japan, Russia, Canada, Italy, Denmark and Belgium. Each will perform in her/his own language, with Hebrew and English surtitles.  Café Noctorno, Jerusalem, 20:30. Tickets are 40 NIS.

Tuesday, December 27th

Firstimers – just what the name says, performers who are onstage for the first time! Levontin 7, Tel Aviv, at 17:00, admission free.

Slamspot – a marathon of musical Spoken Word performances starting at 20:00 and going on into the night…with Yossi Tsabari, Yael Tal, Shiri Ladlesky and Ella Katz, Razia Mizrahi, Naama Lupo and the band, Noam Partoum, Shoham ‘Danger’ Manela, Eran Tsur, Jimbo J. Levontin 7, Tel Aviv. Tickets are 40 NIS.

Thursday, December 29th

The Grand Slam – 8 Spoken Word poets will participate in the final round, the Grand Slam. The winner of this competition will represent Poetry Slam Israel in the international Poetry Slam competition in Paris. The culminating event of this year’s poetry slam will take place at Hangar 11, Port of Tel Aviv at 20:30. Tickets are 50 NIS, and may be purchased via this link.
