The Sounds of Childhood (Tslilei Yaldut) Festival will take place in Holon from October 8 – 10, during the Sukkot holiday. This year, there is all the more reason to celebrate, as the events will take place in the newly renovated Holon Theatre! Produced by the Holon Theatre, headed by Guy Telem, and under the artistic direction of Dr. Uri Leshman, the annual event seeks to foster a love of music with fun and colorful concerts, musical plays and dance performances that communicate to a young audience without compromising on quality.
Highlights:
An original festival production on the stories of the Bible, under the baton of Dr. Uri Leshman, with actor Dvir Bendak and singer/actor Einat Azulai and the Haifa Symphpony Orchestra. The multimedia concert will include animation edited by Dudu Shalita, with texts by Danny Leshman, retelling the stories of creation, the flood, the tower of Babel, and the Exodus from Egypt. All this set to music by some of the greatest and most beloved composers, past and present. Including nternational composers such as Antonín Leopold Dvořák, George Bizet, Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov, John Williams, as well as songs by Israeli composers such as Sasha Argov and Matti Caspi in new arrangements. The performance is intended for all ages, and will take place on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at 18:00. Ticket prices range from 65 – 90 NIS.
The well-known tale of the City Mouse and Country Mouse, based on Aesop’s Fables, will be presented in a new production by the Orna Porat Theater for Children and Youth. In this adaptation, Bubi and Chupchik are best friends, until their paths diverge, and Bubi moves to the big city. Years later he comes back to visit his friend Chupchik in the country, but the country air just doesn’t suit him. The two friends comes to realize that people can have different preferences and still remain friends. The performance will take place on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 17:30, and is intended for ages 4+. Ticket prices are 40 – 55 NIS.
Talented percussionist Chen Zimbalista will be performing with a string quartet in “Bach Brazil”. The performance will feature new arrangements for marimba and strings to the music of Bach, Tchaikovsky, Shlomo Gronich, and others. Augmenting the musical performance will be discussion of the composers and their works. The performance will take place on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 17:30.
The festival will host the Haifa Theatre presenting a musical production directed by Roni Brodetsky, with music performed by the Revolution Orchestra, conducted by Roy Oppenheim. Songs and stories about animals, with texts by well-known Israeli poets and authors such as Leah Goldberg, Nurit Zarhi, Tirza Atar and many more. The songs and stories will be performed by Inbal Smadar on guitar, and Tal Blecharovitz on keyboards. The performance is intended for ages 3+ and will take place on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Ticket prices range from 50 – 70 NIS.
