Due to the security situation and Home Front Guidelines, Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav and the Festival management have decided that the Haifa International Film Festival, which was to have taken place from October 15 – 26, 2024 will be postponed. The festival’s new dates will be from December 31, 2024 – January 11, 2025. The Haifa International Film Festival will take place this year in conjunction and in collaboration with the Holiday of Holidays Festival in Haifa, celebrating the cultural and religious diversity of the city.
Now in its 40th edition, the festival will strive to make use of the postponement to bring additional films to the festival, while maintaining the program Israeli and international films originally scheduled to be screened at the festival.
Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav stated: “Up until this morning I held consultations with Home Front Commanders, with a strong desire to hold the festival as planned, during the Sukkot Holiday. To my regret, it will not be possible, and we will wait patiently until December, when the film festival will merge with the events of Holiday of Holidays. The union of these two events will make Haifa an especially attractive destination in December. Until then, we will pray for better and quieter days, and for the return of all the hostages to their homes.”
