The 40th Haifa International Film Festival announced the award winners in a ceremony that took place on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
Israeli Cinema Awards
Real Estate, written and directed by Anat Maltz, was awarded Best Film.
The jury award for Best Narrative Feature was awarded to Halisa, written and directed by Sophie Artus.
The jury award for Best Documentary Film was awarded to Kafka’s Last Trial, directed by Eliran Peled.
My Missing Screw, directed by Nitsan Tal, received the Best Debut Film Award.
Anat Maltz won the Best Screenplay Award for a Narrative Feature for Real Estate.
Best Research for Documentary Film was awarded to Hagit Ben-Yaakov, Shani Bar David, and Efrat Shalom Danon for Abortion in the Holy Land.
Hili Yosef-Zada won the Best Acting Award in a Narrative Feature for the role of Shahar in Girls Like Us.
Cinematographer Saar Mizrahi and Art Director Barak Vazan received the Best Artistic Achievement Award for the world they created in Cabaret Total.
The Israeli Short Film Competition
The award for Best Independent Film was awarded to two films: Aba, directed by Claudio Steinberg, and The Event Horizon, directed by Shira Geffen.
Carmel – The International Cinema Competition
The Brutalist, directed by Brady Corbet was awarded the Best Film Award.
The Seed of the Sacred Fig, directed by Mohammad Rasoulof, received an Honorable Mention.
Golden Anchor Competition – The Debut Film Competition for First or Second Feature
The Antique, directed by Rusudan Glurjidze, won the Best Film Award.
Three Days of Fish, directed by Peter Hoogendoorn, received an Honorable Mention.
