“The Precipice” (La Rafle), a film by Roselyne Bosch, has been selected as the opening film for the 27th Jerusalem International Film Festival 2010, which will open on July 8th at the Sultan’s Pool in Jerusalem. Bosch and the film’s producer, Alain Goldman, along with cast members Jean Reno, Raphaëlle Agogué, and Gad Elmaleh will come to Israel to attend the screening.

A historical drama, the film recounts the tragic Vel d’Hiv roundup of July 16, 1942, when French police arrested 13,000 Jews, 4,000 among them were children. They were detained in Veldrome before embarking on a journey that ended in the extermination camp of Auschwitz. Bosch tells the story through the experiences of two families, caught in the snare of history.

Bosch, who wrote the screenplay and directed “The Precipice,” directed “Animal” (2006), and wrote the screenplay for “Le Pacte du Silence” (2003). The film’s cast includes Melanie Laurent, who recently starred in “Le Concert.”
