A-Genre Festival is an extraordinary artistic experiment that will take place in the halls, backstage, bar and corridors of Tmuna Theatre in Tel Aviv from January 20 – 22, 2011. This is the 9th year running that Tmuna has invited artists of different disciplines to pursue an idea and take risks without the need to adapt themselves to a particular genre or structure – physical, conceptual or temporal – anything goes.
Artistic directors Nava Zuckerman and Yair Vardi have selected “Loyalty Oaths” as the theme for this year’s festival. The theme provides a source of inspiration, reflection and associations, a touch-point for creativity, rather than an imposed subject, a suggestion for directions of thought. The participating artists who will present their “Loyalty Oaths” are: Noa Dar, Smadar Yaaron, Rotem Tashach, Nava Frenkel, Shelly Palmon, Nevo Romano, Ariel Cohen, Osnat Kelner, Keren Ida Natan.
“Guest Oaths” at the festival will be: the Fattoria Vittadini dance company from Italy, performing MY TRUE SELF, a work by Maya Weinberg, and a premiere of Noa Shadur’s film Country Club.
There will also be time for personal perspectives – “Personal Oaths” by politicians, artists and other intellectuals preceding each performance (FREE admission). Tmuna promises that details will follow…
But part of the fun of A-Genre is the adventure of walking into the unknown and encountering the unexpected. The closing event is FREE and open to the public – a discussion with the artists, performers, thinkers and all, on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 22:30.
