The circus is coming to town! CircuSound – a musical circus event for the whole family, with performances, workshops, and music will take place on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Beit Dani in Tel Aviv. Co-produced by MovetoCircus and Eden Juggling, the all day event will feature the 1st ever Israeli Juggling Competition!
Ines Lorca, who danced with the Batsheva Ensemble, dreams of the day when circus arts in Israel will find their right place – in the center ring. Lorca is the artistic director of the modern circus show “Stefanie’s not here” – a project which began in February 2008 with five young circus artists aged 14 – 20, students of Shahar Kamay, head manager of the project. Working with trapeze, juggling, bouncing balls and staffs the aim of the project is to bring contemporary circus arts to a wider audience in Israel, Move to Circus is setting its sights high. Believing that the boundless energy and creativity of the circus can go a long way towards helping young people cope with dyslexia, ADHD, alcohol and drug addiction, they conduct workshops, appear in festivals, and hope someday that circus arts will be part of the curriculum in schools.
The participating artists are: Gon Beran, Chantal Cohen, Itai Eliezri, Stefan Ferry, Kai Gluska, Shahar Kamay, Amit Kenighstein, Rakefet Levy, Ines Lorca, Neta Oren, Orian Rozenswaig, Yoav Shapira, Lilla Weisselberg, Eden Zak and Hamoutal Ziulkowski.
